What is Recovery Like?

Dr. Stamatiou and his helpful informative staff make themselves available at every stage of your recovery to answer your questions. After your procedure you will be given thorough post operative instructions, and follow up appointments. For the first few days after surgery, you may experience some swelling in your abdomen as you begin to heal. You may also have some soreness and discomfort, which can be controlled with medication. The healing timeline depends on the extent of the surgery. Dr. Stamatiou emphasizes the importance of walking and performing moderate daily activities early on in your recovery. After your procedure, you will wear a compression garment to help ensure smooth results and healthy healing. You will need plenty of rest and relaxation doing the first week after the procedure although most patients feel comfortable returning to light activities just days after surgery.
