Acne Treatment
Acne is distressing no matter if you are a teenager or an adult. It can be caused by high bacteria levels, hormonal changes, stress or simply reaction to the environment.
What will the treatment entail?
Excel Medi Spa’s approach is highly customized. The acne treatment will include a thorough history and skin analysis and will proceed to a deep cleanse, exfoliation/chemical peel, manual extraction and detoxifying mask that will help draw the impurities. Further treatments either with the aesthetician and/or Medical team including Dermatologist/Plastic Surgeon performing a series of chemical peels and /or laser treatments will be recommended along with daily home skin care regimen.
What are the contraindications to this treatment?
If you are currently under the care of a dermatologist and are taking oral Vitamin A therapy a deep facial cleansing, and chemical peel/laser treatment are contraindicated for a minimum of 6 months upon terminating oral medication. If you are using topical retinoids (Airol, Adaferin, Retin-A) it is recommended to stop use of these products for 4-5 days prior to treatment and to notify the aesthetician prior to the treatment.
How will I be after my treatment?
You will be able to return to normal activity immediately afterward. Your skin may have a slight irritation however this can be camouflaged with Mineral make up. We will perform a 3 minute makeup application of Jane Iredale Mineral Make Up. Jane Iredale Mineral Make up is not like other brands. It is free of talc, synthetic fragrances and synthetic petroleum based dyes. The foundations form a protective barrier on the skin that allow it to breathe and function normally.
Laboratory tests confirm that all of the products are non-comedogenic and do not block pores. The minerals can applied immediately afar a microdermabrasion or a light peel prodded the skin has not been broken. They will not only cover the redness, but the titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are known anti-inflammatories that will help to calm the inflammation. And since the Minerals provide physical sunscreen there is no need to wait for sun protection.
Note: Even men feel comfortable wearing the minerals because they are undetectable!
