With international training in the U.S.A. (University of Florida & State University of New York) and 15 years of clinical experience in Florida, Dr. Vasilis Stamatiou is one of the most distinguished plastic surgeons in Greece. Creator of Excel Medi Spa and author in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal Open Forum, he has presented at international conferences such as the Aesthetic Meeting and the San Diego Panel his innovative techniques in aesthetic breast surgery, such as TESMA and Split Inferior Pedicle, which have been established internationally for the naturalness and long-term stability of results. Additionally, he is the Scientific Director of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department at the Interbalkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki, providing high-standard care with emphasis on safety, precision, and natural results.
Dr. Vasilis Stamatiou is a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 30 years of international experience in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. He graduated from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, completed his General Surgery residency at the State University of New York, and specialized in Plastic Surgery at the University of Florida under the mentorship of Dr. Bernard Kaye, a founding member and past president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).
Dr. Stamatiou founded and directed a successful private clinic in Florida—Plastic Surgery Associates of Palm Harbor—for 15 years. In 2000, he returned to Thessaloniki, where he established Stamatiou Aesthetics and the Excel Plastic Surgery Center, and has been affiliated with the Interbalkan Medical Center since its inception. He currently serves as the Scientific Director of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
A pioneer in his field, Dr. Stamatiou is internationally recognized for his innovative approach to aesthetic breast surgery. In 2022, his groundbreaking TESMA technique was published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal Open Forum (ASJOF). TESMA is the only breast augmentation technique worldwide that eliminates the need for a postoperative bra and avoids the potential use of mesh to support the implants, while delivering natural, long-lasting results with minimal complications. Thanks to TESMA, Dr. Stamatiou is acknowledged globally as a leading expert in aesthetic breast surgery using smooth implants and in correcting unsatisfactory breast surgery outcomes—without the use of mesh.
Dr. Stamatiou has served as a member of the teaching faculty for both the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), with a consistent presence at their annual meetings in the U.S. over the past three decades. Since 2020, he has presented his work in aesthetic breast surgery at ASAPS and ASPS annual meetings in Miami, Vancouver, and San Diego. Since 2023, he has been a member of the ASPS Breast Surgery Education Committee, actively contributing to the development of the society’s educational programs.
Today, Dr. Stamatiou continues to practice at his private clinic in Thessaloniki. In addition to breast aesthetics, his areas of special interest include short-scar facelift techniques, lower eyelid blepharoplasty combined with midface lifting, and comprehensive post-pregnancy rejuvenation procedures (Μommy Μakeover).
He collaborates with his wife, Dr. Marcelle Diamandis, a double board-certified anesthesiologist and functional medicine physician.
