Brachioplasty / Upper Arm Lift
What is brachioplasty?
It is a procedure used to correct sagging arms. Often, exercise and diet cannot fix loose skin problems with or without excess fat. The procedure tightens the loose skin. The surgery does not correct loose arm muscles.

What is the procedure?
The procedure is performed under sedation or light general anesthesia. Usually, liposuction is performed first. Subsequently, the size of the incision resulting from skin removal depends on the degree of skin laxity and where this skin is located. With good skin elasticity, the incision can be limited to the armpit area. Without good skin elasticity, the incision extends lengthwise from the armpit and can reach down to the elbow. The choice in this case is whether the incision will be placed on the inner or back surface of the arm. Dr. Stamatiou will discuss the details with you and help you decide how to proceed with this surgery. The fact is that when a large scar is indicated, the decision is difficult and one must decide whether the length of the scar is worth the trade-off, considering that the improvement in the arm silhouette is dramatic.
What about recovery?
After the procedure, we use a special bandage and you go home within a few hours. You will have specific post-operative instructions and after two days when the bandage is removed, you will be able to wet the areas in the shower. No pain is experienced during movement since the arm muscles have not been affected. In cases of mini brachioplasty within the armpit, recovery is even easier.
What alternatives are available?
If the skin tone is good but there is excess fat on the inner thighs, liposuction of these areas is considered sufficient. Moderate skin laxity can be treated using Venus Freeze (a radiofrequency device approved by the U.S. FDA) at our clinic.
